No Pressure

DAY 9 OF 20

It’s often our natural reaction when someone wrongs us to respond in anger. We want to defend ourselves, get even, or make things right. However, Jesus tells us that we are supposed to do to others as we would have them do to us. That means we should consider others and let them have a good piece too, rather than taking the best food for ourselves. Or if we’re going through a door, consider letting the person near you go first. Things like that aren’t easy to do, but they do go a long way toward what Jesus was talking about.

Even when it seems like loving someone when they haven’t been nice to you is impossible, it’s not as difficult when we realize that this is the way God loves us. We deserved hell, but we got grace. We do all kinds of things that are sinful all the time. And God is full of mercy toward us. When we truly focus on God’s goodness and His mercy toward us, it makes our response to others easier. If we truly begin to understand how much God loves us, then loving others becomes easy. We realize that we can love others because we’ve been given so much from God. Today, take some time to truly reflect on what Jesus wants us to understand and how it can help us walk in love toward others when we first focus on God’s love for us.

About this Plan

No Pressure

We feel pressure at home, at work, within our families, and in our friendships. Pressure is part of being human. But what do we do with it? How do we handle the relentless weight without breaking down or burning out? What about God? What does He have to say about it, and does He even care? That’s what this series is all about—learning how to not only deal with the pressure, but to survive and thrive.
