No Pressure

DAY 12 OF 20

The New Testament makes it clear that we are supposed to care about other people, not just passively, but actively. Big love. That can be a revolutionary thought in our narcissistically driven society today. The society we live in is all about getting ahead, making our way... me, me, me, me, me. Putting others first, while it’s a seemingly basic theory, very seldom happens. Christ didn’t live to please Himself. He didn’t take the easy road. In theory, Jesus could have grown up and continued Joseph’s trade as a carpenter, taken a wife, had some children, and lived to a ripe old age. The same could be said for the apostles. There was a path they could have taken that would have been much easier.

But they didn’t. They chose the way of serving others. And that is the example we are to follow. We are to follow the example that everyone has value and meaning. Everyone has needs and requires support in various ways. And when we collectively focus on serving one another well, it’s incredible how our needs, in turn, get met.

About this Plan

No Pressure

We feel pressure at home, at work, within our families, and in our friendships. Pressure is part of being human. But what do we do with it? How do we handle the relentless weight without breaking down or burning out? What about God? What does He have to say about it, and does He even care? That’s what this series is all about—learning how to not only deal with the pressure, but to survive and thrive.
