Living Above Labels

DAY 3 OF 4

Courage to Face Samaria

Sister, there will come a day when the shame you’ve carried no longer keeps you hiding in the wilderness. A day when your past no longer gets to define you. That day begins with one powerful encounter with Jesus.

In John 4, we meet the Samaritan woman. Her story was complicated. Her reputation likely followed her everywhere. And yet, when Jesus met her at the well, He wasn’t surprised by her past; He spoke straight to her heart. He offered her something deeper than surface change: living water that would satisfy her soul.

And what did she do? She left her water jar, the very reason she went to the well, and ran to tell others about Him.
She wasn’t hiding anymore.
She wasn’t carrying shame anymore.

Did you catch that?

Once she knew Jesus accepted her, she had the courage to face the very people who once rejected her. Her heart, once full of emptiness, was now overflowing with purpose. The labels from her past no longer held power. She wasn’t just forgiven, she was transformed.

Sister, Jesus is coming to your Samaria.
He knows exactly where you are, and He’s not afraid of what you’ve been through. When He meets you there, your story will be a light for others still trapped in darkness.

You won’t stay silent.
You’ll speak, and your words will ooze freedom.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for meeting me right where I am, even in the places I’ve tried to hide. Give me the courage to face what once made me feel ashamed. I lay down the labels and lies I’ve believed and receive Your truth instead. Fill the empty places in my heart with Your love, and let my story bring hope to someone else still waiting at the well. Amen.

Reflection:

How has Jesus met me in my own version of Samaria? Or, how do I hope Jesus will meet me in my Samaria?
