Winter Warm-Up Sample

“So he (Saul), trembling and astonished said “Lord, what do you want me to do?”” - Acts 9:6a (NKJ)
The word sin in the Gospels is either the verb, hamartanô, or the noun, hamartia, which means:
- To miss the mark
- To fail in one's purpose
- To err, or to be mistaken
- To fault, or error, or neglect
The life of Saul up until his conversion embraced all of these aspects of sin to an extreme level! But we learn that as Jesus called him, he turned. He turned away from his sin and most of all he turned to Jesus.
Straight away he asked the Lord to show him his purpose or his kingdom tasks. As I go through life, I understand on a deeper level how much it must make our Lord sad when His children “miss the mark”. When I see those I love missing the mark it hurts me as I watch them hurting themselves.
How wonderful it is to be able to turn away from our sins, to confess, repent and then to turn fully to Jesus and ask for His plan, His direction and His wisdom. We are fully free when we hand our lives over to the Lord and ask “What is it that you want me to do?”
Seek God each day to reveal His plans for your day and for the bigger picture of your life and purpose.
Prayer:
Lord, please forgive me when I fail in Your purposes for me. I turn away from my sins and turn to You. Please show me each day what You would have me do, in speech, thought, prayer and action. I thank You that You sacrificed Your life to rescue me from the burden of my sin and that I can live a whole new life free in Your care and guidance. Amen.
