Easy Cheesy!

Bombarded by the thoughts of everything that had come against me during the day, I curled up in bed, trying to picture myself resting in God’s arms. I longed for peace, but my mind kept racing. A tough decision loomed on the horizon, tearing me between what felt fair and what felt equitable.

I whispered prayers through clenched teeth, begging God for clarity to help me make the decision that aligned with His will, not just mine.

At some point, I must have drifted off to sleep because the next thing I knew, I woke up… and was still praying.

Then I felt it: a gentle nudge from the Holy Spirit. “Look at the clock.”

I glanced over—1:23 AM. I started dissecting it in my usual overthinking mode: Was this a Scripture reference? A countdown? A sign?

That’s when the Holy Spirit whispered something that made me pause:

“My child, it’s not 1:23 AM. It is 1, 2, 3. Do the easiest thing: trust me and do nothing. What you’re consumed with is as easy as 1, 2, 3 for me. I will take care of it.”

I chuckled and shook my head because doing nothing is never easy for me. But I knew exactly what God meant. He wasn’t calling me to passivity; He was calling me to obedience, to step aside so He could step in.

So spiritually, I backed off. I intentionally shut off my racing mind and went back to sleep.

The next morning, I received an email from my boss informing me that the decision had been made without me lifting another finger. All I had to do was execute the plan. Just like that, handled.

Friends, obedience in this season is non-negotiable, even when it doesn’t make sense or looks like doing nothing.

As Deuteronomy 12:32 (NIV) says,

“See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it.”

When God says, “Let go,” trust He’s already worked it out.

So, the next time you’re pacing the floor, overthinking every angle, remember:

It’s as easy as 1-2-3… for Him.

Prayer

Father, thank You for being the God who sees and knows all. Teach us to trust You fully—even when Your instructions are to be still. Help us to be sensitive to your voice and swift in our obedience. We surrender every complicated situation to You, knowing nothing is too hard for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Is there a situation where God asks you to stop striving and trust Him? What would it look like to “do nothing” in faith?
