Heart for the House

DAY 11 OF 28

"Now, my son, may the Lord be with you and give you success as you follow his directions in building the Temple of the Lord your God." — 1 Chronicles 22:11 (NLT)

In 1 Chronicles 22, David passes the baton to his son Solomon to build the Temple—a task David himself desired but was not chosen to complete. Instead of bitterness, David responded with preparation, prayer, and encouragement for Solomon.

It reminds me of times when God asked me to support someone else’s vision instead of leading it myself. At first, I wrestled with pride and disappointment, but I learned that success in God's kingdom is often found in obedience, not position. Like David, we can find joy in preparing the way for others, trusting God’s bigger plan.

Today, consider how you can support someone else's calling, vision, or growth. Encourage them, pray for them, or offer your skills to help them succeed. Ask God to give you a heart that celebrates the success of others as much as your own.

Prayer:

Lord, give me a heart like David’s: humble, obedient, and eager to support Your plans, even when they unfold through someone else. Help me to celebrate others and trust that my part in Your story is valuable. Keep my focus on faithfulness, not recognition. Amen.

About this Plan

Heart for the House

David was able to set the stage for Solomon to build the temple by providing the victories for Solomon to have peace in the land, provision, and a launch pad for the new season to come. There are lessons in this for us today! For our future generations to see victory, it will take us fighting the battles now, and generously supporting God's plans to come! Join us through 2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles and be inspired by how you can be setting the next generation up for victory.
