5 Days of Being Comforted by GodSample

Comforted by Truth
When we are walking through the valley of the shadow of death, God can seem so far away. We often wonder, is God even real? Does He hear me? Does He see me? From our limited perspective, we are met with silence, and now we feel abandoned and angry. If God is real, how could He have let my loved one die? These feelings of anger and hurt are normal. As we walk this earth, we are limited in our seeing and understanding. We may think back to the times we prayed and begged God to change the course of the path we found ourselves on. But what happened? Nothing. Or at least that’s what our mere mortal minds tend to believe. Yet, as Christ’s followers, if we pause for just a moment, we will remember that God is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.
It’s during these hard moments when we must hold fast to the truth that the things of Christ are a mystery to man. This is where we walk by faith and not by sight. Our heavenly Father loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, for us. We may not understand the why’s of today, but one day it will all be made clear. Our feelings are a normal part of the grief-walk, and we mustn’t berate ourselves for feeling them. God knows. It’s during these times of anger and questioning when we should lean into the One who knows all. (2 Corinthians 1:3)
Father, help me to hold on to You and Your truths, especially during these times when I don’t understand Your plan. When I cannot see You or feel You, please remind me of Your Word and Your promises, in Jesus’ mighty name.
About this Plan

Grief isn’t something we seek out. In fact, we often try to keep it at arm’s length—especially in a culture that prizes positivity. But as followers of Christ, grief is not something to avoid. It’s a sacred path through which we come to know the heart of God more deeply. Whether you're facing the death of a loved one, a health battle, or any kind of sorrow, our prayer is that this reading plan leads you to real comfort and lasting peace—found only in Jesus.
