Let’s set the scene. You’re out camping or somewhere in nature. You’re with a group, yet it seems you are the only one those pesky mosquitos are interested in. They’re small but they sure do sting when they bite! Can you relate? The mouth is a small part of the body too. Yet it has a powerful impact. Our words bring life but also damage, depending on how we guard ourselves.

The Bible gives us plenty of instruction in this area and it’s worth taking note! Proverbs is blunt in describing the consequences of an unguarded mouth; ruin and destruction. Thank goodness we have God’s help to guide us in our speech.

Prayer:

Father God, thank you that you enable us to make wise choices in our speech. Please help us to guard our mouths as we talk and interact with others. May our words be uplifting, healing, kind, and loving. May we be people who speak with honesty and integrity. Amen.
