Discovering Your CallingSample

Moses had everything the world could offer in Egypt, yet he needed to walk away. Some of you feel the same struggle. You know you were made for more than what you’re settling for. There's a tug toward Purpose, but it’s met with pressure to stay comfortable. You want to discover what God has called you to do, but you’re also facing the decision of how deeply you’ll surrender to Him in the process.
Here’s the truth: you don’t choose your Calling—you discover it. And that discovery begins when you choose to consecrate yourself to the Lord. Moses didn’t make himself the deliverer of Israel. God called him. But before that Call was revealed, Moses had to choose consecration.
Hebrews 11:24 says, “By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.” In other words, he walked away from royalty to be identified with God’s people. That was a costly decision for him.
It's important to understand that while you may not get to decide what your Calling is, you will have to decide your level of surrender. If you’re not willing to leave behind your Egypt—whether that’s sin, pride, people-pleasing, or convenience—you’ll miss what God wants to bring you into. Consecration will always cost you something. For Moses, it meant obscurity. He went from wearing silk robes to walking with sheep. But what looked like a step backward was a Divine Setup.
God trains you in the wilderness before He trusts you on the platform.
Some people want the Red Sea moment without the Midian season. But it’s in the quiet, hidden places—where no one’s applauding and nothing feels glorious—that God shapes the kind of heart He can use. Don’t despise that season. It’s preparation, not punishment.
If you want to carry the weight of God’s Call, you have to first decide what you’re willing to walk away from. Remember, the greater the Call, the deeper the consecration.
Challenge: Identify something you're holding onto that God might be asking you to lay down. Surrender it today, and trust that obedience always leads to Purpose.
Let’s Pray:
Father, help me to walk away from anything that compromises my Calling. I surrender the palace of comfort for the wilderness of Your Presence. Refine me, purify me, and prepare me for what You’ve designed me to do.
