Strategy for Success

DAY 4 OF 7

Lead with Impact

Who holds you accountable for being a godly leader?

The way you lead impacts the lives of many others.

Is your leadership model based on biblical instruction, or has it been shaped by business executives, pastors, or even your predecessor? If you’re a leader, is your approach more influenced by human models than by Christ’s example? This is important to reflect on.

One sensitive issue is ego. If you think you’re always right, always the smartest in the room, you’re likely leading with a top-down style. You might take control of discussions, agendas, and praise. But real leadership requires confidence without self-promotion. It’s not about standing in the gold-medal position, but serving humbly.

A friend of mine, gifted in evangelism, let his gift become his identity. His photos and stories dominated the ministry. Over time, he started to believe he could do no wrong. Eventually, his reputation became more and more negative.

In contrast, I’ve seen how a bottom-up leadership style fosters genuine feedback and growth. When others are free to speak into your life, you grow as a leader. In your team, it’s important to create an atmosphere where feedback flows freely. If you lead from the top down, you need strong accountability partners who will speak truth in grace.

The Body of Christ is too quick to make heroes.
Let’s remember — we are not the heroes of this story, God is!

Scripture to Ponder:
Mark 10:45 —"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Key Lesson:
Be careful not to make yourself a hero. Lead with humility and consider whether a bottom-up approach better aligns with God’s leadership style.
