Gospel Text - The Perfect Role Model

Reflect:

Jesus is the ultimate role model, not just for His perfection but for the qualities He displayed during His life on earth. In the same way He lived, we are invited to model our lives after Him, following His example of compassion, humility, and obedience to God.

Compassion and Love:
"When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd." (Matthew 9:36)
Jesus’ compassion was not passive; it was active and transformative. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and welcomed the marginalized. In the same way, we are called to see people through His eyes and respond with selfless love.

Humility:
"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many." (Mark 10:45)
Jesus, though fully God, humbled Himself to serve others. From washing feet to bearing the cross, His life demonstrated that true greatness is found in humility. In the same way, we are called to prioritize serving others over seeking recognition.

Obedience to God:
"Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done." (Luke 22:42)
Even in the face of immense suffering, Jesus submitted to the Father’s will. His obedience reminds us that trusting God’s plan is always the best choice. In the same way, we are called to surrender our will to God’s, even when it’s difficult.

Jesus' life is the perfect blueprint for how we are to live, both in heart and action. While we cannot achieve His perfection, we can daily seek to reflect His character, trusting that His righteousness covers us when we fall short.

Respond:

Take time to reflect on how you can follow Jesus’ example in your daily life. How can you show compassion to someone in need? In what ways can you practice humility and servanthood? Are there areas where you need to surrender to God’s will in obedience?

Write down one action you will take this week to follow Jesus’ example in the same way He lived:
