After the CrossSample

“They will do even greater things than these” (John 14:12). Greater things than Jesus? Think of the things He did. Cast out demons (Mark 1:21-28). Healed blind eyes (John 9:1-12). Healed legs that weren’t working (Matthew 9:1-7). Raised people from the dead (John 11:1-45). Jesus said we’ll do greater things than Him because He was going to the Father. Because He was sending His Spirit to live in us.
So what can it look like to live in the Spirit? Peter and John raised someone from the dead. A man was healed through Peter’s shadow. An earthquake on the wings of praise broke off chains and opened prison doors in Paul and Silas’ experience. Paul cast a demon out of a girl in Jesus’ Name. Paul raised Dorcas from the dead. They are not the exception, they are examples! And what’s the common denominator? They were living by the Power of the Spirit.
Jesus said we will do greater things than He did. Wow! What if Paul and Silas and Peter are examples of what it looks like for a God-follower to submit to the Power of the Holy Spirit? What would that mean for us?

About this Plan

Although crosses are common to us today, they meant something different during Jesus’ time. The cross was the ultimate form of punishment, an extremely painful form of death that was reserved for the worst of criminals. Jesus experienced this painful, humiliating form of punishment, but the Cross was just the beginning of the story. We’ll look at the significance of the Cross, but also what happened after the Cross.
