Miracles and Mysteries: Matthew 8-13Sample

In this passage, Jesus returns to His hometown of Nazareth, but His teaching is met with rejection. The people are astonished, but they also take offense. They can’t reconcile the Jesus they knew as a child with the wisdom and power He now displays.
Though His hometown rejects Him, Jesus continues to demonstrate His authority. His rejection in Nazareth highlights the hard hearts that resist Him, even when He performs mighty works. This rejection fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah 53:3, where the Messiah is despised and rejected by men.
Today, ponder this: How do you respond to Jesus’ authority in your life? Are there areas where familiarity has caused you to miss His greatness?
