Miracles and Mysteries: Matthew 8-13Sample

American author and minister Richard Halverson said, “Intercession is truly universal work for the Christian. There is no power on earth that can keep intercession out.” That is what we see here from the centurion as he rushes to Jesus.
While the centurion’s servant is at home in great physical suffering, this man of high standing seeks Jesus, hoping that He would be the one to heal his servant’s ailments. In such an amazing showing of boldness, the centurion exemplifies an intercessory faith where he pleads to Jesus on behalf of another, trusting that Jesus could indeed answer.
What is demonstrated here is the wonderful power of intercession, where advocating for others and bringing these requests to Jesus is met with a merciful response from the Son of God. You, too, can have this same intercessory faith as the centurion because, as the gospel reveals, Jesus is the ultimate intercessor. Jesus not only pleads on your behalf, but also acts on your behalf by dying on the cross.
With Jesus being your advocate, this means that you can now intercede in prayer on behalf of others, asking God to grant their requests according to His will. What a great joy and privilege to be able to come boldly to the Lord God with ours and others prayers!
Today, ponder this: Who are you currently praying for right now? Is there somebody you know who is asking God for something that you too could pray for?
