Sealed - Part 3Sample

DAY 2: The Seal of Guarantee
The light of the Gospel shines before men. Through faith, their eyes are then opened to see it. They hear and believe in the Word of Truth and are sealed with the unique gift of the Holy Spirit.
This sealing of the Spirit produces a new nature in the person marked and declared a son or daughter of God. It is both a promise and an anticipation of the inheritance in Christ.
This mark is stronger evidence of eternal life than the possession of supernatural gifts.
The more this sealing of the Spirit is enjoyed, the more the image of God and the certainty of all His promises are imprinted on the person's soul. This seal makes no sense to the world, but it is the power that enables us to understand spiritual things and assures us that we are saved.
Even today, there are places where a person who wants to purchase an item but, for some reason, does not have the full payment can leave a deposit—a down payment—for that product. The purchased item is then set aside for a designated time until the buyer returns with the remaining balance to complete the transaction.
The Holy Spirit is the Lord’s deposit in us. God gives us a foretaste of the life of the age to come by giving us the Holy Spirit. When we receive this down payment, we are set apart, reserved, and not for sale to anyone else. It is the guarantee that He will return with the rest to complete the purchase.
Paul spoke about having a deposit “until the redemption of those who are God’s possession” (Ephesians 1:13-14). We already belong to Him, but we have only received the initial payment—the full redemption is yet to come.
“The great future is sealed for us by the small present, and the experiences of the Christian life today, no matter how imperfect, incomplete, and flawed they may be, are the best prophecy and the most glorious guarantee of that great tomorrow.” – MacLaren
The seal of the Holy Spirit is both a pledge of our inheritance and a sign of the possession God has purchased.
How many rivals exist for our love that should come first for Him?
How many other motives dominate our lives?
How often do we drift away from our submission to Him and try to establish our own kingdom?
"Futurists want humanity to progress. Transhumanists want humanity to transform. Post-humanists want to go beyond humanity, even at the risk of our extinction." – Joe Allen.
There are many voices making plans for humanity and opposing the plans of God. But for those who are saved, the seal of the Holy Spirit is the guarantee that everything Jesus planned and said will come to pass.
Even those who have already passed and now sleep in the Lord have this seal of guarantee. The mighty waters and the great flames of fire cannot destroy this purchased seal that awaits the redemption of those who belong to God.
My Prayer:
Eternal Father, Your plan is too wonderful for me to comprehend! Everything in me was created by You—every cell, every organ, every part of my being.
My ancestors fled from You, but by Your mercy, the light of the Gospel shone upon me. My eyes were opened, and I believed in Your Truth. Jesus is Lord, and God raised Him from the dead!
And You have given me new life, marking me with Your seal — the seal of the Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit, imprint the image of Jesus upon me more and more today.
Holy Spirit, increase my hope and confidence in Jesus’ words and promises.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
