DAY 31 OF 365

He Gets It If you've lived for any amount of time, you know you'll endure certain seasons when there just doesn't seem to be anyone who understands what you're going through. Suffering takes on an entirely different tone: socially, financially, physically, emotionally, you name it...the problems stack up and there doesn't seem to be any competent confidant in sight. If only there was someone else who understood what I was going through. If only there was another person who could relate to where I'm at. Listen, it's David-a man who knew more about suffering than most of us ever will-who makes this dramatic declaration: "You have known my soul in adversities." In other words, David knew that no matter what it was he had, was, or would go through, God understood everything there was to know about it, too. In our vernacular, we might say that God "gets it." And when we know that He gets it, even when no one else does, it does something precious and powerful to our faith. When we're brought to the place David was, it causes our relational roots to sink further and deeper into the heart of God than ever before. No matter what you're dealing with right now, no matter what you're faced with, God gets it. He knows the stress, He knows the uncertainty, He knows the secret fears you've never admitted to any one else. He knows all of it, and He knows how to get you through it, and He wants you to trust in Him as He does. Knower of all things past, present, and future in our lives...we're grateful that you "get" everything we're facing today, and we pray you'll increase our trust in You. What does this passage reveal to me about God? What does this passage reveal to me about myself? Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
