DAY 30 OF 365

Forever Favored God is always looking at His relationship with us through a wide-angle lens. He's always focused on the bigger picture. He's interested in the whole story of our lives and not just a particular paragraph, page, or chapter. Quite simply, He's in it for the long haul. Here's why that's so important: In the course of our relationship with the Lord, there are bound to be instances where our sin surfaces and He responds with parental anger. But it's crucial we remember that these moments don't tell the whole story about us. They don't define us in our Heavenly Father's eyes, and they don't get the last word. The Lord's anger towards our sin is but for a moment. It fades and passes away in proper time. His favor, however, is for life. Favor can be alternately translated as delight, goodwill, pleasure, grace, and kindness. And it's this favor that does define our relationship with God. It's the big picture, the whole story, the last word in our dealings with Him... because His favor is forever. Many of us have picked up the impression that God is constantly ticked off and upset with us...that we're just one bad day away from Him washing His hands of us and moving on to someone else. Nothing could be farther from the facts. Fact: We are forever favored by the Eternal Creator, the Ancient of Days. There's absolutely no limit to His delight, goodwill, pleasure, grace, and kindness towards us. Thank you, Lord, for Your favor that never expires or runs out. Help us to remember that even when we fail, and even when your anger towards our sin surfaces, that your favor always has the last say in our lives. What does this passage reveal to me about God? What does this passage reveal to me about myself? Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
