Forward your faith
Certain things are in the DNA of every person who has had their heart touched and transformed by God. And one of those things is the desire to pass their faith on to the next generation.
This desire is depicted in the opening verses of Psalm 78 as the Psalmist states that he would share God's praises and works with the generation to come. He wasn't content to contain or keep his knowledge of the Lord to himself. That would be impossible! It's something so wonderful that the only justifiable thing to do would be to pass the knowledge on ahead.
God hasn't changed one iota. He's just as praiseworthy and wonderful in all His works as He was in Bible times. And because He hasn't changed, the desire to share His greatness with the next generation also hasn't changed. We can't keep Him to ourselves, and we shouldn't...especially when our children are concerned.
Whether we're a parent with a houseful of children, a Sunday-school teacher entrusted with a classroom of kids, or a mentor committed to giving guidance, the importance of forwarding your faith forward can't be denied. Passing along what you know about the Lord to an impressionable heart is the greatest investment you can make and the greatest inheritance you can give.
Nothing, literally nothing, in this life is as important as a true and healthy understanding of God and how to know Him. It's beyond priceless, and passing this along to others is beyond wise.
"Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren." (Deuteronomy 4:9 NKJV)
Wonderful God, may we be found faithful in forwarding our faith in You!
We can't keep Him to ourselves, and we shouldn't...especially when our children
Think about it... What does this passage reveal to me about God? What does this passage reveal to me about myself? Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
