Stillness in the Chaos: A 5-Day Devotional for Busy MomsSample

Day 4: Resting in God’s Strength
Scripture: "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." — Isaiah 40:29 (NIV)
Devotional: As a busy mom, it’s easy to feel like you’re running on empty. The to-do lists seem endless, and the responsibilities often feel heavier than what you can carry. You might be physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted, and the thought of finding rest or peace can seem like a far-off dream. But in these moments of weariness, God’s word offers a powerful reminder: He gives strength to the weary.
In Isaiah 40:29, God promises that He will strengthen those who are weak. His strength doesn’t just come when we are rested or have everything together—it is especially evident when we are tired and worn out. In these moments, He is near, ready to fill us with the power we need to keep going. He does not expect us to carry our burdens alone, nor does He want us to push through on our own strength. He is the One who equips us with what we need.
This promise of strength is available to you, even in the middle of your busiest days. When you feel exhausted, God invites you to lean on Him. He doesn’t call you to figure it all out by yourself; instead, He offers His presence to renew and restore you. Taking time to be still in His presence—whether for a moment of prayer or quiet reflection—allows you to experience His power. It’s through these moments of stillness that you can tap into His infinite strength.
What does it look like for you to rest in God’s strength today? It might mean letting go of the need to do everything perfectly and acknowledging that His grace is sufficient. It could mean asking Him to renew you in the midst of your daily responsibilities. Wherever you are, God is with you, ready to strengthen you for whatever lies ahead.
Prayer: Lord, I often feel weary and weak in the midst of my daily responsibilities. Thank You for Your promise to give strength to the weary. Help me to rest in Your power and trust that You will equip me to handle everything I face. Teach me to rely on Your strength, not my own, and to find rest in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection Questions:
- When was the last time you felt exhausted, and how did you handle it?
- How can you lean on God’s strength rather than relying on your own energy and resources?
- What are some ways you can invite God’s strength into your daily life?
Action Step: Today, when you feel worn out or overwhelmed, take a moment to pause and breathe. Whisper a prayer, asking God for His strength: "Lord, give me the strength to face this moment." Close your eyes, and allow His peace to settle your heart and renew your spirit.
Quote for the Day: “Resting in God’s strength isn’t about doing less; it’s about trusting in His ability to do more through you.” — Oluseye Ashiru
