Have you ever thought about the consequences of our freedom? We are learning that Jesus gives us freedom from our old habits, thoughts, sins, and fears. Yet, the freedom from these things doesn’t mean we can do whatever we want and not worry about the consequences.
It can be tempting to think “Yes, look at all the freedom I have” and use it as an excuse not to change our behavior or attitudes or as an excuse not to live a life aligned with what God calls us to. Peter reminds us to live in our freedom but to make sure we aren’t using our freedom as a cover-up. Instead, we need to use this freedom to reflect the love of Jesus to others and find ways to serve them.
Today, think about how you’re using your freedom. Are there any ways you’ve been using it for selfish reasons? Ask God to help you use your freedom to serve Him and others!
