Holy Week - a Guide to Prayer

DAY 4 OF 5

In this passage, Jesus was sitting with his closest friends, one of whom was about to betray him. That betrayal would lead to him hanging on a cross and giving up his life for us.

What I'm amazed by is that, even though Jesus knew his friend was going to betray his trust, he still invited him to the table. Even though Jesus knew that his friend was lost and his sin was deep, he still invited him to experience the everlasting life that was found in Jesus.

It’s a perfect picture of who Jesus is to each of us. No matter how deep our sin. No matter how far we have run from God. He will always invite us to the table with him. He will always invite us to experience the love, hope, and freedom that is found in him. And all we need to say is yes. All we need to do is surrender our life and confess that Jesus is the Lord of our life, and we will be saved. That is good news today, friend.

Whatever your circumstance, wherever you have been, or whatever you have done—whatever your sin, Jesus is here with open arms and ready to welcome you to a seat at his table. A table filled with the gift of everlasting life found in him.

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” Matthew 26:26-28

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for always having a place for me at your table. Thank you for the invitation to experience everlasting life in and through you. Today, I choose to remember all you have done for me—that your body was broken and your blood was poured out so I could be forgiven for all of my sins. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for saving me. I surrender my life to you today.

It’s in your name we pray,
Amen

About this Plan

Holy Week - a Guide to Prayer

Holy Week is the days leading up to the celebration of Easter. Our hope for this daily prayer during Holy Week is to take intentional time to reflect on all that Jesus has done for us, to help us grow in the discipline and rhythm of prayer, and to grow in understanding of why it matters and what it means to pray.
