Holy Week - a Guide to PrayerSample

Today's passage is an incredible reminder of God’s love for us. Even when we think we are lost and out of reach, God’s love is always there. God will always pursue us and seek to find us. He is a God who leaves the 99 to find the one who is lost.
Have you ever felt lost? Have you ever felt like you are so far gone that there is no way there could be a God who loves and cares about you? Maybe you’re feeling that way today.
Or maybe there is someone in your life who's in a season where they feel lost. Where they feel unlovable and unforgivable. They feel like they are the lost one.
We all need to be reminded that there is hope to be found in Jesus today. The good news of Easter is for everyone.
So, let's take a moment to think of those who are in need of this reminder. Think of those in your life who need to hear the good news of Easter. Who needs to be invited to church so that they can be reminded that they are loved by Jesus.
So Jesus told them this story: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!” Luke 15:3-7
Prayer For the Day
Jesus, thank you for loving me. Thank you for saving me. Thank you for the reminder today that you would leave the 99 to find me. That I am never too lost for you.
Would you bring someone to mind in my life who needs to know about your love? Someone who needs to know that they are never too lost for you. Someone whom I need to invite to church this Easter. And would you give me the courage to invite them, knowing and believing that it could change their life.
Thank you for loving me so much that you would give your life for me. Remind me today that I am never too lost for you. And would you help me to love and live like you today, Jesus.
It’s in your name we pray,
Amen

About this Plan

Holy Week is the days leading up to the celebration of Easter. Our hope for this daily prayer during Holy Week is to take intentional time to reflect on all that Jesus has done for us, to help us grow in the discipline and rhythm of prayer, and to grow in understanding of why it matters and what it means to pray.
