I’m Just a Guy: Battling PornographySample

I’m Just a Guy: Battling Pornography

DAY 4 OF 5

Breaking Free

When I step outside on our farm before the sun rises, I think I know the layout.

I’ve walked the same ground and handled the same chores. But in the dark, everything is different. I trip over unseen obstacles, misjudge distances, and before I know it, I’ve made a mess of things simply because I couldn’t see clearly. That’s exactly what happens when we try to fight sin—especially pornography—alone in the dark.

We tell ourselves we have it under control. We rationalize that it’s not that bad or I can stop whenever I want. But one day, we look up and realize we’re completely lost, unsure of how we got there and even more uncertain of how to get out.

The best way to fight darkness? With light. Darkness cannot coexist with light, and as Christian men, we must utilize this power if we want to claim victory. The simplest and most effective way to expose this struggle to light is by sharing it with a fellow brother in Christ. Not your spouse or partner first—there are deep emotions tied to that conversation. Instead, start by bringing it to a trusted brother who will walk with you, shoulder to shoulder. The moment you speak it out loud, so much of the enemy’s power is stripped away.

You may be thinking to yourself that you’re too far gone and that I have no idea what you’ve done. There seems to be a critical oversight you’re making in your assumption - it appears you think there’s more sin in you than grace in Christ. That is absolutely a lie from the pit of hell. The finishing work that Jesus did on the cross covers all the sins in your life, from the most basic to the highest toxicity that exists - we have to remember that there is so much more grace in Him than sin in us.

Brother - you are not condemned. You are not beyond hope. But you must take action. Sitting in the dark is not an option for a leader. A heart of repentance leads to movement—so step into the light. Break free. And never fight alone again.

Questions to Consider

  1. How has isolation made your battle harder?
  2. Are you leading with repentance or staying stuck in the dark?

About this Plan

I’m Just a Guy: Battling Pornography

I know I shouldn’t look, but I just can’t stop. Too many men feel powerless in the fight against pornography, but you don’t have to stay stuck. We’re here to enlighten, encourage, and equip you to fight like never before. You may feel like just another guy, but we know the truth: you have what it takes to break free and live in victory.
