Strength for Tomorrow

DAY 29 OF 30

Day 29: Paul and Silas – Strength to Praise in Prison

Scripture: Acts 16:16-34; Matthew 11:28-30
Key Verse:
“About midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.” – Acts 16:25

Beaten and thrown into prison for preaching the gospel and casting a demon out of a poor, exploited young woman, Paul and Silas had every reason to despair. But instead of complaining, they worshiped. As they sang praises to God, an earthquake shook the prison, opening the doors and breaking their chains.

Their worship wasn’t based on circumstances but on their faith in God. And their faith didn’t just impact them; it led to the jailer's and his family's salvation.

Praising God in hard times isn’t easy, but it shifts our focus from our struggles to His sovereignty. Worship can break chains, not just physical ones, but the chains of fear, doubt, and despair.

Prayer Focus: Ask God for the strength to praise Him every season, trusting He is always worthy and working.

About this Plan

Strength for Tomorrow

Jesus told us that our weariness comes from carrying a burden that is too heavy for us. Instead, we are supposed to give our problems, cares, and concerns to Him and allow Him to give us the strength to do what He asks. He will teach us to do this over the next 30 days because He is humble and gentle at heart. God's word will show us examples of people throughout scripture who put their burdens in His hands and found rest for their souls.
