Platforms vs. Pillars

DAY 6 OF 7

When I am on stage, it gets so loud I can’t talk to my team–they simply can’t hear me over the music. So, we rely on signals to communicate things like starting the next song or changing the key.

Platforms are loud–not just literally but metaphorically, too. Social media encourages you to voice your opinions, gain followers, and have others re-share what you say.

Sometimes, the comments we read on social media from people who call themselves believers make us wonder if they truly understand God’s love and grace. 🤔

We live in a world where everyone wants to have an opinion and broadcast it all over. But as we’ve been learning from Revelation 3:12; God calls us to be pillars, not platforms.

Pillars are comfortable with silence. Platforms always gotta say something.

“Pillars are committed to what they are becoming. Platforms are focussed on what they are saying.”
– Phil Dooley

It’s not wrong to speak up–Jesus Himself got loud when he turned over the money changers’ tables and started driving out the merchants at the temple court, calling them a den of robbers (Mark 11:15-17).

Yet Jesus also knew when to remain silent:

But when the leading priests and the elders made their accusations against him, Jesus remained silent. “Don’t you hear all these charges they are bringing against you?” Pilate demanded. But Jesus made no response to any of the charges, much to the governor’s surprise. – Matthew 27:12-14

Jesus had the governor as his audience, yet He didn’t feel the need to take the platform! 😳 He was secure in who He was and knew when to remain silent. We need to learn to do the same:

Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. – James 1:19

The most powerful words, come from a life deeply rooted in Christ. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you today (and every day)–when to speak and when to remain silent.

Hey! You are a Chamatkar
