Lent Youth Guide | Jesus' Real Talk During His Hardest & Darkest MomentsSample

Think:
In a world that’s all about crushing goals and proving yourself, it’s easy to think you have to earn God’s love by being perfect, super religious, or never messing up. But chasing that image of God can leave you totally drained and feeling far from Him. Jesus flips the script, saying, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). God’s love isn’t something you work for—it’s a gift.
Live:
Take a moment to check your view of God. Do you think He only loves you when you’re winning at life? The truth is, His grace is for you even when you fail or feel like you’re falling apart. Spiritual habits like praying, fasting, or reflecting aren’t about earning His approval; they’re about getting closer to Him and feeling His love more deeply. This season is your chance to let go of the pressure to “achieve” and lean into God’s unconditional love. Trust that you don’t need to hustle for what He’s already freely giving.
Pray:
God, I want to know You for who You really are. Help me let go of any wrong ideas I have about You and replace them with the truth of Your love. Amen.
