Journey With Jesus 365Sample

It is hard to believe that Jesus would ask Bartimaeus, the blind man, what he wanted when it was obvious that he just wanted to be able to see. Why would Jesus ask? We must understand the motive of our request is just as important as the request itself. Jesus asked James and John what they wanted, and they requested the best seats in heaven. Jesus denied their request because selfishness was their motive for asking.
Only when we pray according to God’s will is He pleased to grant our request. We will not see our prayers answered if we ask selfishly. If God is not answering our prayers, we should evaluate our prayers and ask if they are selfish. If we ask according to His will, like Bartimaeus, we will receive far more than we anticipated.
