Pride

In this episode, Judas says, "What I need is a life I can be proud of."

Can you relate to his longing? It’s not just for survival or success, but for a life that feels full and worthwhile.

Judas and his associate have just made a good deal. The money is there, their plan worked, but he doesn’t feel fulfilled. The emptiness remains. Judas is experiencing something Jesus taught about: the deceitfulness of wealth.

Jesus spoke a lot about "Mammon," which is the false god people create out of money and possessions. You cannot serve Mammon and be My disciple, says Jesus.

But the temptation is real. Our attention drifts toward whatever we can see and touch, to what others have, to what we think we need to prove ourselves or feel secure. Before long, we find ourselves collecting, upgrading, comparing — chasing “more” without ever arriving.

In the midst of this rat-race, Jesus asks, "Is life no more than food and the body no more than clothing?" In other words, isn’t there something deeper worth living for?

Then He gives not just a correction, but an invitation: "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

There is more to live for than money. There is more to live for than food. There is more to live for than "more and more." And yes, Jesus knows what you need. In this beautiful verse, you have the promise that He will provide for you.

This is the path to the life your heart longs for — a life shaped by trust instead of anxiety; a life where the pressure to keep proving yourself is replaced by the security of being loved and provided for by your Father.

Fulfillment is found not in getting more, but in belonging more deeply to Him.

Prayer

Lord, I recognize how easily my heart is drawn toward the things I can hold, achieve, or control. Turn my attention back to You. Teach me to seek Your Kingdom first and to trust Your provision. Shape my desires so that I long for what You long for. Amen.
