Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year One

DAY 333 OF 365

For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21).

How confident are you in the Bible's content?

Apparently false teachers accused Peter and the apostles of pursuing myths. Peter writes, "For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty" (2 Peter 1:16). The apostle testifies to witnessing the transfiguration of Jesus and hearing the voice of the Father, who said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (2 Peter 1:17). Moreover, Peter uses a present tense verb explaining, "we have [currently have] the prophetic word confirmed" (2 Peter 1:19). As a sailing vessel is carried across the water (Acts 27:15, 17), "holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit".

Employment Point: Live confidently in Jesus' deity and the Bible's integrity.
