Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth (Colossians 3:2).
Do you have an earthly or heavenly gaze?
We have been positionally crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20; Colossians 3:3) and raised with Him (Colossians 3:1). Believers are now to enjoy their elevated status and blessings (Ephesians 1:3; 2:6). Even though God has favored the saints, they are commanded by Paul to "set your mind on things above." The imperative is given in the present tense, which means they are to continually fix their mind on heavenly things. Satan makes sure that we have many distractions in the world in which we live. Yet this world's system isn't to command our interest because "the world has been crucified to me," writes Paul in Galatians 6:14, "and I to the world." Let's live in light of our heavenly seating arrangement to please the Lord.
Employment Point: Maintain a heavenly mindset to please the One who has freed you from the bondage of sin and Satan.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
