Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

The Lord GOD has opened my ear; and I was not rebellious (Isaiah 50:5).
Are you following in the steps of God's greatest servant?
Isaiah pens four servant songs (Isaiah 42:1-9; 49:1-13; 50:4-11; 52:13-53:12). Although they indirectly allude to Israel at times, ultimately they point to Jesus. The New Testament confirms this linkage. Matthew quotes from the first servant song (Isaiah 42:1-9) and attributes it to Jesus (Matthew 12:18-21). He writes, "Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased!" (Matthew 12:18). The Lord Jesus is characterized as an obedient servant who yields to His Father's will and endured great hostility from sinners on His way to the cross. The prophet writes of Jesus, "I gave My back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting" (Isaiah 50:6).
Employment Point: Submit to the Father to also be an obedient servant.
