Do you exercise good sense in your dealings with people?

“Discretion” is translated from a Hebrew noun and means intelligence or good sense. This intelligence doesn’t derive from the wisdom of the world or from higher education. A believer who exercises skillful living will make “him slow to anger.” He has learned that “a soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1). Moreover, a person of discretion will “overlook a transgression.” Paul makes the case for forgiving others. He imparts the following wisdom: “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32). The Lord has forgiven our past, present, and future sins through the death of Jesus. Let’s live skillfully and exhibit patience, while forgiving others.
