DAY 3 OF 7

Gonna Be Alright

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” – Matthew 6:33-34

The average human spends close to an hour of every waking day worried and anxious. A recent study published that the average person’s anxiety is focused on:

40%- Things that will never happen

30%- Things about the past that can’t be changed

12%- Things about criticism by others, mostly untrue

10%- About health, which gets worse with stress

8%- About actual real problems that will be faced

Based on these numbers, we can conclude that for almost an hour a day we are worrying for really no reason at all. This to me seems like a miserable existence, yet I am guilty of it all the time. Ironically, I then continue to think about how much I am worrying, and I start to worry that I worry too much! Sound familiar? I can’t be the only one. It is a never-ending cycle and there is only one way to break it. You have to stay focused on the task at hand, stay focused on what your purpose is in life, on what you are here on this earth for. The only way to find that is to fill your mind with Scripture and prayer, through a relationship with Jesus.

In Matthew, Jesus reminds us how the Father provides food for even the birds and fertile soil for even the flowers of the fields. How much more then is His love, protection and provision for his children. This is an incredible reminder and a promise that we can hold onto.

Everyday has its problems, troubles and sorrows; but because of who we are in Christ, it truly is gonna be alright.
