The Gospel of MarkSample

Jesus explains why he called us to deny yourself, pick up our cross, and follow him in verses 3:35-38! Take some extra time to reread these verses.
We must follow Jesus this way because it is the only way we will ever find life. Yes, to follow Jesus means to first die to ourselves, but with that, we will experience resurrection life.
This scripture tells us that people who reject Jesus and live for this life will end up losing everything. Even Jesus had the opportunity to gain the world by worshiping Satan (Luke 4:5-8), but instead by choosing obedience, He found life and victory!
“Walking with Jesus doesn’t just mean a life of death and crosses. It also means a life of the power and glory of the Kingdom of God.”
Jesus’ invitation for us is to follow him and live a life not focused on ourselves and what we can gain, but a life where we ‘deny ourself, pick up our cross, and follow Jesus.’ If this is an invitation you haven’t said yes to yet, take time to pray now and you can say yes today!!
And if this is something you have already said yes to, pray through what that would look like for you to personally live this out on a day-to-day basis.
