The Gospel of MarkSample

When the disciples ask Jesus why they were not able to cast out the spirit from the boy his reply is telling: “this kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer” (v29). Mark has already highlighted in chapter 6:46 how Jesus would also go up mountains to pray. This event is a clear lesson to the disciples and us today: an intimate prayer life is so important in being like Jesus and fulfilling our call as his followers. If we fail to foster this prayer life, we will fail to do the things we are called to.
Let’s take time to be with the Lord this week at some point. Maybe you want to find a place to go that helps you pray, like Jesus did.
