The Gospel of MarkSample

Sally McFague writes:
“Metaphorical language, parabolic language, does not take us out of everyday reality but drives us more deeply into it, de-forming our usual apprehensions in such a way that we see that reality in a new way” (p70, Speaking in Parables).
Jesus spoke in parables not only to show what the kingdom of God was like, but also to simultaneously give sacred value to the everyday lives of ordinary people.
Let’s take some time today to reflect and pray about this. Lord, I give you the work of my hands and the meditations of my mind today, consecrate them for you and your kingdom, Amen.
