We’re all sisters and brothers, so let’s love one another.

Think of a time someone was mean to you. What did you want to do about it? 

As God’s children, we are called to love others in every situation. Sometimes, that’s really hard. When someone hurts us, we may want to hurt them back. But we always have a choice. We can choose to be mean too, or we can choose to show them God’s love. 

How do we choose to love? It would be too hard to do on our own, but the good news is, when we become a part of God’s family, we get a helper. Jesus is right there with us, helping us to show God’s love in every situation! So in those moments when you are faced with a choice, pause and pray for Jesus to help you show God’s love.

Watch the video and make a Love God, Love Others Necklace to help you memorize 1 John 4:7. It will help you remember that God gives us great love, and we should share it with each other!

Love God, Love Others Necklace

1. Get a piece of paper, scissors, tape, and some markers.
2. Cut the paper into 15 pieces. Make any shapes you want.
3. Write two words from 1 John 4:7 on each shape. You might have pieces left over.
4. Make a necklace by taping the words together in order. 
5. Make extra empty shapes if it isn’t long enough.
6. Wear the necklace to remember the Bible verse!

Talk It Over: Talk about times you can choose to show God’s love instead of treating others poorly. What can you do to show God’s love in that situation?
