14 Honest Prayers for Mama BearsSample

Day 9: Nightmares
Oh Lord, my poor [child] keeps having disturbing nightmares. They disturb me, too, and my sleep. You are all-knowing, so You know the cause—is it just a childhood thing that will pass? Has [child] seen, heard, or experienced something to set this off? Is there something deeper and darker? You are the light, Lord; nothing is hidden from You, so I am asking You to bring the source of these bad dreams to light. If [child] is filling [his/her] mind with dark images, may these dreams serve to remind [him/her] how important it is to guard our eyes.
As [his/her] mom, give me compassion to help [child] through this tough night. In Your great mercy, I call on You to restore sweet slumber to my child. Show [child] that [his/her] nightmares are not real, but Your comfort is; Your Word is the lullaby to our souls, because “greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4 NASB). May we both be able to lie down and sleep in peace, oh Lord, for You make us dwell in safety (Psalm 4:8).
