14 Honest Prayers for Mama Bears

DAY 11 OF 14

Day 11: Loving the Unlovable

Lord, I did not treat [person] the way I should have. Thank You, Lord, for Your conviction; please continue moving in my heart. I recognize how many times I’ve been unlovable, difficult, and socially awkward. You have loved me anyway. Lord, thank You for never giving up on me. Please give me the grace that I should have shown [person]. You say in the Sermon on the Mount, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy” (Matthew 5:7). Lord, I need mercy so often. I lose my temper. I make a fool of myself. I represent You poorly. And dare I even admit it? I can be downright annoying, which sometimes feels like the worst social sin of all.

Lord, make me an instrument of Your love, mercy, and unconditional acceptance. I pray You would bring it to my attention when others overlook my flaws and oddities so I, in turn, can have a ready picture of what I am when others have flaws and oddities that are annoying to me. Lord, thank You for never giving up on me. Please help me take responsibility for the unloving way in which I treated [person], apologize sincerely, and do anything else that is needed to make amends. And tomorrow, give me a special helping of grace for [person] so I can love [him/her] with the compassion and acceptance You have showered upon me.
