Growing in Truth – For ParentsSample

Read John 8:32
Think
Do you feel like the Bible is constricting or freeing? No matter what your feelings tell you, truth > feelings. And the truth is that, when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He sets us free. That doesn’t mean we will never be tempted, make a bad decision or ever sin again. It just means that Jesus, when we ask Him to, forgives us when we make mistakes.
That’s the truth we need to keep ever in front of us. And where the freedom comes in—it’s a whole lot less stressful trying to be good and perfect all the time and feeling like a failure when you falter. And you will mess up—we all do. However, it’s so freeing to know that when you make a mistake, you just have to confess it, and thank the Lord that He’s already forgiven you. That’s truly living in freedom!
Talk
Ask yourself: When was the last time you had to say you were sorry?
Ask a child: How does it feel to forgive someone else?
Discuss together: Why is it sometimes hard to admit that we sin and say we are sorry for it?
Pray
Dear Jesus, I need your help today. Good choices and habits are hard. I am not strong enough to always make the wise choices, and I certainly can’t set myself free of temptation and sin. I need you to save me every day. Thank you for dying on the cross and defeating sin forever and setting me free. Amen.
