Each day of this week, Jesus went to the temple and taught the people. As you can probably guess, not everyone was thrilled about it. The religious leaders knew Jesus was often talking about them, and he wasn't happy with them. While that might not normally have been a big deal, the people were latching onto what Jesus had to say--and that was a threat.
So, they plotted against him. One of his close followers, Judas, came to the religious leaders and offered to hand Jesus over to them. They agreed, made a plan, and paid Judas for his betrayal. And now all the pieces were in place for the arrest of Jesus.
Think it Over: What do you think it was like for Jesus to have Judas as a follower and know all along that he would betray him?
