Here, we see God's presence again - He would appear in a cloud and follow His people closely day and night. When the cloud moved, they moved. When the clouds did not move, they stayed put. God does not want to be far away from His people, even today. God has always closely guided His people and shown them the way to go. Today, He lives inside the people who follow Him and receive His Holy Spirit. This is a closer relationship than Him being in a cloud above us; we can talk to Him at any and every moment.
