There's an old saying that goes, "God gives his toughest battles to his toughest warriors". I don't know if that's totally true. Maybe it's better to say, "God gives extra strength to those in the toughest battles". That's what we see in the story of Job. God allowed Satan to cause Job suffering because he was so faithful. Does that mean God knew Job could handle it on his own because he was so great? Probably not.
If we read the whole story, we'd see Job has a really hard time. What it actually means is that God knew that, when the bottom fell out and there was no strength left in him, Job would lean on God's power and faithfulness.
Think it Over: What hard things are you going through? What would change if you leaned on God's strength to make it through rather than your own?
