Philip and the Ethiopian
Listen to "Philip and the Ethiopian":
Reflect
The Ethiopian was seeking God, evidenced by his long journey to Jerusalem to worship God. On his way home he poured through Isaiah’s writing, trying to understand it. God saw his heart and devotion. And so He sent Philip to the desert to bring the Ethiopian the life-changing message of the gospel. No wonder the Ethiopian’s response was to joyfully receive this gift and immediately be baptized!
There are still people today seeking meaning, understanding and God. Be ready and willing to explain the truth of God’s Word no matter where.
● Philip was called from a very successful ministry in Samaria to the middle of a desert. Has God ever sent you to a place that didn’t make sense to you? How would you respond if He called you to a “desert”?
● This story begins with persecution but ends with the gospel spreading to other places, including Ethiopia. How have you seen God use evil, like persecution, for the advancement of His kingdom?
Journal
What did you like in this story? What in the story challenges you or is confusing? What does this story show you about people? What does this story show you about God/Jesus/God’s Spirit? What does this story show you about yourself?

About this Plan

Experience a different way of interacting with God’s Word. Deepen your intimacy with God by listening to an oral Bible story each day. Then allow His Word to transform you by reflecting on a short devotional. Grab a journal to record what you notice in the story and what God is saying to you through His Word.
