As we begin reading the last chapter of the Book of Ruth this week, let's focus on our understanding of the Providence of God in the whole story. God’s works of providence are His most holy and wise and powerful, preserving and governing of ALL his creatures and ALL their actions. This is easy to say but hard to live out. All around us, there are unseen ways He directs and governs our lives, and it can often be confusing when we don’t understand why things happen the way they do.
As children of God, the circumstances of life are always purposeful, demonstrating His deep love for us, moving us closer to Himself. We see in this story His sovereign guidance, provision, redemption, and His work through individuals to bring about His divine plan. And it's a call to us today to trust in God's faithfulness, obey His commands, and rely on His provisions, even in difficult circumstances.

About this Plan

The story of Ruth stands as a story of redemption. Coming from tragedy and as a foreign woman, Ruth is the last person we might expect to see the goodness of God. She becomes a key figure in the story of the Bible and the great-grandmother of King David himself!
