Many times in my past I read this with swearing and crude jokes in mind. However, it seems James is going deeper than that. “The tongue is a tiny spark that can set a great forest fire.” We must realize the great importance of managing our words, and look to the power and ability to change the world and others for the better. A life of Tamim or “perfection and wholeness” is unachievable without control of our mouth.

About this Plan

The Epistle of James has so much to offer us as followers of Jesus today. It was originally written to Jewish Christians spread all over the ancient world. The message is straight to the point, practical, and challenging. Wherever we find ourselves following Jesus, this letter can help us realize how our spiritual and practical life should be one in the same.
