In chapter three, James focuses in on a specific area, the tongue. He writes that the tongue can one moment Praise God, and shortly thereafter curse another human made in the image of God. James challenges us in our fractured lifestyle in regards to our speech and the way we speak about one another. So often, we find ourselves as Christians spreading condemnation, gossip, and contempt for one another. Instead, we should be known for our words of truth, blessings of provision, and loving encouragement.

About this Plan

The Epistle of James has so much to offer us as followers of Jesus today. It was originally written to Jewish Christians spread all over the ancient world. The message is straight to the point, practical, and challenging. Wherever we find ourselves following Jesus, this letter can help us realize how our spiritual and practical life should be one in the same.
