Children Can Pray, Too!

DAY 6 OF 7

Day 6 - Yielding to God’s will.

Teaching children about yielding to God’s will can be difficult. This is because kids do not understand “waiting.” They always want to get what they want now! That is why they use different tactics like screaming or getting mad to get their parents to do what they want when they want it.

However, as a parent, the first step toward teaching your children how to yield to God’s will is to teach them that they cannot always get what they want.

You must let them know that although God answers every prayer and can do everything, He sometimes doesn’t give us what we pray for because His will for us might differ from what we are asking, or it’s not yet time. That is not because He is angry at us. Instead, He wants to give us the best gift we sometimes do not even know we need.

Help kids understand that yielding to God’s will requires surrender. Explain that surrender means letting go of our plans and desires and trusting in God’s plan for our lives.

As a parent, you must teach your children the value of waiting for God’s timing. But how do you do that? To achieve this, you can share Bible stories. For example, the story of Joseph, who had to wait many years before he became a ruler in Egypt, or the story of Abraham and Sarah, who had to wait for many years before they had a child. These stories can help kids understand that waiting for God’s timing always pays.

Therefore, encourage your kids to pray and ask God for guidance and strength during waiting times. Help them understand that God has a plan for their lives and that waiting for His timing in obedience and patience is part of that plan.

Help your children understand that waiting for God’s timing can take a long time. Encourage them to be patient and trust God knows what is best for them.
