People have all kinds of fears. There are more popular ones like heights or speaking in front of people. But there are also the less popular ones like “Arithmophobia” – the fear of numbers (high school math scares many people)—or “Xanthophobia” – fear of the color yellow. No matter your fears, we all know the feeling that comes with fear—feeling panicked or out of control. The writer of this Psalm reminds us that when facing our fears, we can trust God is with us. When everything else feels out of control, God can be trusted.

Write down a list of some fears you may be facing right now—no matter how big or small. Then pray, and read your fears out loud to God. Name the emotions that come up as you process your fears. Afterward, read today’s scripture verse aloud. Then pray to ask God to be present as you face your fears—no matter what they are.
