The Game Changers Way

DAY 2 OF 5

Universal Purpose

There are three dimensions to purpose. The first is what we call the universal purpose. The universal purpose says no matter where you live or what language you speak, God calls all his followers to live out a universal purpose. So it’s not unique to a specific follower of Jesus but to every follower of Jesus.

The religious leaders wanted to trap Jesus, so they asked him to define the most critical command. He answered their questions with what was most important. He says to love God and your neighbor as you love yourself. Jesus has a way of bringing clarity to complex realities. He summed up over 600 laws into one, known as the Great Commandment.

The universal purpose for every follower of Jesus is to Love God and to Love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

Joel Mamby, a former CEO of SeaWorld, known for turning the company around after tragedy and cultural toxicity, says Love should be a business value. So he wrote a book called ‘Love Works.’ This book talks about how a culture of Love isn’t just a good thing for life; it’s good for business. He says Love shouldn’t just be a personal value but an organizational value as well.

Love works universally and is the primary purpose for followers of Jesus. Love is God’s highest value for his people. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:13 that only three things will remain in the end, faith, hope, and Love, and the greatest of these is Love.

Love Works.
